  • Dance NOW! Miami Program II featuring an encore presentation of “Bridges NOT Walls” and other works

    Join Dance NOW! Miami at the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center. Presenting its cri du cœur “Bridges NOT Walls, a bold plea for understanding, communication and embracing of immigrants that reverberates now more than ever. This full one-act piece returns to the stage for an encore presentation as part of its Program II at 7 pm on Sunday, March 15, at the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center. The evening will also include the world premiere of “1933,” and repertory favorites “Strings of Goodbye” and “Forest Dreams.”

  • The Commitments

    Join Coral Gables Arts Cinema for a screening of The Commitments. Directed by Oscar® nominee Alan Parker (Mississippi Burning, Midnight Express), young and ambitious music fanatic, Jimmy Rabbitte, is a working-class kid with big dreams of breaking into the music industry. He decides to start on the path to greatness with a seemingly impossible task: bringing soul music to working-class Dublin.

    After placing an ad in the local paper, Jimmy takes up the mantle of manager for his newly formed band of inexperienced misfits. Despite a shaky start, things start to click with the help of aging trumpet player, Joey “The Lips” Fagan, who oversees their musical education.

    However, amongst the ensuing excitement and mayhem as they inch closer to success, the band threatens to be torn apart by petty feuds, jealousy, and the grim realities of life.

    During the opening weekend of Get in the Game: Sports, Art, Culture, PAMM presents GAME TIME, a two-day public program bringing together artists, athletes, curators, journalists, and poets for conversations, readings, performances, and film screenings exploring the intersection of sports, storytelling, and contemporary art. Highlights include panel discussions, poetry readings, and the US premiere of the boxing documentary On the Line.
