• Miami Book Fair: Spotlight on Florida & Making of – Nonfiction

Join four Florida authors for an engaging discussion on the Sunshine State’s fascinating history.

In "Coral Gables: The First Hundred Years", Patrick Alexander traces George Merrick’s journey from a modest homesteader to the visionary founder of the “City Beautiful.” "Coral Gables: From Bankruptcy to Beauty" by Les Standiford revisits Merrick’s legacy, exploring how his planned city evolved into a global destination of architecture, culture, and innovation.

Craig Pittman, in "Welcome to Florida: True Tales from America’s Most Interesting State", delivers an entertaining collection of stories that capture the quirky, colorful, and sometimes unbelievable spirit of Florida and its people. Meanwhile, Lawrence R. Samuel’s Making Miami: The Historic Rise of the Magic City offers a sweeping look at Miami’s transformation.

Together, these authors shine a spotlight on the forces, figures, and stories that have shaped Florida into the state we know today.
