Gables Cinema will screen “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” (1958), directed by Richard Brooks and based on Tennessee Williams’ Pulitzer Prize-winning play. The film stars Paul Newman as Brick and Elizabeth Taylor as Maggie.

The story follows a married couple navigating personal and family tensions during a gathering at the Pollitt family estate. Burl Ives, Jack Carson, and Judith Anderson also star.

Cat on a Hot Tin Roof received six Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, Best Actor for Paul Newman, Best Actress for Elizabeth Taylor, and Best Director for Richard Brooks.
