Directed by Oscar® nominee Alan Parker (Mississippi Burning, Midnight Express), young and ambitious music fanatic, Jimmy Rabbitte, is a working-class kid with big dreams of breaking into the music industry. He decides to start on the path to greatness with a seemingly impossible task: bringing soul music to working-class Dublin.
After placing an ad in the local paper, Jimmy takes up the mantle of manager for his newly formed band of inexperienced misfits. Despite a shaky start, things start to click with the help of aging trumpet player, Joey “The Lips” Fagan, who oversees their musical education.
However, amongst the ensuing excitement and mayhem as they inch closer to success, the band threatens to be torn apart by petty feuds, jealousy, and the grim realities of life.

This full one-act piece returns to the stage for an encore presentation as part of its Program II at 7 pm on Sunday, March 15, at the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center. The evening will also include the world premiere of “1933,” and repertory favorites “Strings of Goodbye” and “Forest Dreams.”
